The Case TV450B is a compact track loader — not a wheeled skid steer. Tracks distribute weight across a larger footprint, which means it won't sink as readily in soft ground and can work on slopes that wheeled machines can't handle safely. On saturated ground, tracked equipment still leaves impressions — we assess site conditions before working wet areas and will advise you if timing matters for your job.
The disc mulcher attachment uses a spinning disc with carbide teeth to process trees up to 8–10 inches in diameter. It grinds the trunk, limbs, and stump in one continuous motion — no separate passes, no separate equipment.

Why Forestry Mulching Works Well Near Lake Anna
All material is ground in place — no burn piles, no smoke, no waiting for burn permits. Ideal for properties near the lake or in fire-sensitive areas.
Because debris is mulched on-site, there's no trucking cost. This often makes forestry mulching less expensive than traditional clearing for the same acreage.
The mulch layer left behind protects topsoil from erosion, retains moisture, and decomposes into organic matter over 1–2 years. Compared to bulldozing, significantly less bare soil is exposed — which reduces erosion risk, though it does not eliminate it entirely on steep slopes or in heavy rain.

Compared to bulldozing, forestry mulching causes less soil disruption. The disc mulcher grinds stumps to ground level and mulches the above-ground material, but the root system below grade remains in the ground and decomposes naturally over time.
What Forestry Mulching Leaves Behind
Mulch layer on the surface. The disc mulcher grinds trees, brush, and stumps into a 2–4 inch layer of wood chips and organic material that remains on the property. This is not hauled away. It decomposes over 12–24 months, suppresses weeds, and protects the soil from erosion — but it is present on the ground after the job is complete.
Root systems remain below grade. Forestry mulching grinds stumps to ground level or just below, but does not excavate root balls. Roots remain in the ground and decay naturally over several years. If you need the ground cleared for a foundation, septic system, or deep grading, stump excavation or grubbing is required — and will be quoted separately.
What this means when comparing estimates. A forestry mulching quote that appears higher than a cut-and-haul quote may still be the lower total cost — because there is no separate debris removal invoice. A cut-and-haul quote that appears lower may not include stump grinding, haul-off, or site cleanup. Ask each contractor what their price includes at the finish.
